“Surviving Wildest Dreams" Series, 2024 In her latest series, "Surviving Wildest Dreams," artist Cristy Corso reflects on her journey as a two-time survivor of several, Stage three to four, Lymphomas and the aggressive treatments she endured. Drawing inspiration from the experiences of other women battling breast cancer, Corso is passionate about her exhibition campaign entitled: “Shades of Pink: Art Against Cancer.” Through her paintings she seeks to uncover the beauty that can emerge even amidst the harsh realities of a chaotic disease like cancer. A portion of sales will benefit the Susan G. Kolmen foundation for breast cancer research. Premiering December 2nd - 31st at Duende Gallery Miami, during Miami Art Week & Art Basel weekend 2024, this series showcases Corso's unique fusion of illustrative pop and some street art styles. The exhibition features large-scale, multi-cultural portraits of women infused with bionic elements, exploring the surreal experience of cancer. Corso blends science fiction themes with contemporary discussions on cancer treatment, creating a striking visual narrative. Description of "Surviving Wildest Dream” Paintings: The backgrounds of these oversized portraits juxtapose natural and animal prints with vibrant neon camouflage, symbolizing the complex realities faced by those living with cancer. Corso’s portrait’s focus on the faces of women, intentionally omitting hair and anatomical details to represent the disembodied feeling that invasive treatments, such as mastectomy, can evoke. Each background motif serves as a commentary on the duality of beauty and struggle: the lively animal prints contrasted with neon camouflage motifs reflect the inner battles of those affected by cancer. For Corso, her experience with cancer science, combined with holistic support, became a form of escapism amidst the harshness of hospital environments. “During my six months of hospital stays, I tried to bring joy to the sterile setting,” she shares. “With fun wigs, jewelry, and even a leopard pillowcase, aiming to reclaim my femininity. After being a patient, it was challenging to feel human again. I felt like a bag of poison at times. One has to reconnect with life before you can embrace your divine feminine energy. So, I adorned myself with playful, feminine touches to blend into the world.

“My Nuclear Kiss,” Digital Art Series, 2021 Cristy Corso hasn’t been a stranger to resilience of difficulties. First, in 2022, Corso was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma cancer on Valentines Day, inspiring her to create the digital art series "My Nuclear Kiss." This series gained much exposure and even became an educational interactive experience at the Mana Contemporary Chicago, curated by the celebrated Jenny Lam. This, and her New Media work, shared Corso’s first day of Chemotherepy in life, was exhibited at The Highland Park Art Center Gallery as a group show. Strangely, its theme of work was on the experiences of solutions for illness & disease, like cancers, using visual arts and science. This pop art design as merchandise, for the public, was well received even at the gallery gift shop. The series of The Kiss is also an admiration celebrating those who have supported her journey. Corso's art often reflects themes of endurance and hope – this is one of them.
"American Athlete & Heroes" Series, 2012 - Now: This ongoing painting series aims to raise awareness about Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and mental health. As a TBI survivor herself, hospitalized for almost two years, she is dedicated to this ongoing series. Corso's work has brought attention to the challenges faced by those most affected by TBI’s – our athletes & military veterans. Corso’s recent painting work included several new athletes & commissions. Most exciting, currently, is a life size NBA MVP player of Giannis Antetrokounmpo, of the Milwaukee Bucks, celebrating their recent championship. As an extreme, versus team, sport athlete herself, Corso still skateboards & was once a competitive snowboarder. She has also painted, from canvas to murals, athletes in this category as well. Today, Corso is happy to have some subjects of her paintings as collectors, but most of all is honored to call many supportive friends. More Series Highlights: Some of her popular American culture & abstract surrealism paintings, back in Las Vegas, derived from Corso’s original digital art work preliminaries, reside in a venue inside the Rio Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Some feature legendary athletes include Mike Tyson & David Rodriquez, whom she collaborated with along with Everlast Boxing.
